One Step at a Time

Daylight savings time brought big changes to the Strom Henrie household. Our lovely boy went from "forward falling" to taking steps! Now, dont' get me wrong, I wouldn't call him a "walker", but he's on his way. And echoing several responses on Facebook, watch out world. Now that's what I call a "spring forward"!

Walk on, brother!

Who's that toddler boy?

After our trip to Chicago, I had to admit that sweet Augustus is no longer a baby baby. Even his face and body are transitioning to be more little boy-ish. Here are a couple of his priceless expressions. Wow, I love this boy. When he was just a newborn and friends assured me that it just gets better and better, I thought they were crazy because things were pretty awesome then. Turns out, they were right.

Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner

You've heard that "Nobody puts baby in a corner," and that's true, unless the baby does it himself. Augie has gotten more and more adventurous getting around our furniture and even squeezes himself into some fun nooks and crannies.

If Rio can do it . . .

But how do you get back out?

Juiced.

This past weekend, Augustus came down with a little cough and wasn't feeling so hot. This earned him his first juice! Yes, I cut it with water, but I wanted him to stay hydrated. Turns out, he doesn't even like it that much. But here's a glimpse into the tasting process . . .

What's this new taste? And what's with this hair?

The reason for the sippy cup.

Let's try this side.

Got it!

Breakfast Date

One of Jacob's favorite activities is a coffee and meat fueled weekend breakfast. After Nora's was nominated for a James Beard award, we headed back out to Wilson for some weekend deliciousness. It's no secret that Augustus is an adventurous eater, and this was no exception!

Who's ready for some chicken fried steak?

The infamous huevos rancheros.

Bookworm!

It seems that Augustus just can't get enough of his books these days! Nothing warms this English-major's heart more, even if he doesn't always choose the most opportune times. He other favorite activities include crashing cars (may have something to do with spending everyday with Daddy, who's training to be an EMT and volunteering for the ambulance on weekends) and even makes a convincing crashing sound! So, good boy, Augustus. Taking a little after Mami and a little after Daddy.

Well, he was "supposed" to be getting into jammies . . .

I came around the corner, and what did I see?

Interacting with books in new ways!

Lucky #13!

Although we won't necessarily be taking the monthly photos anymore (we ran out of stickers!), we still want to mark his astounding growth. So, in his 13th month, Augustus added the word "uh-oh" to his vocabulary. He also began conducting lots of gravity experiments in order to use his word in context. His personality continues to shine through showing him to be a playful, curious and loving little boy.

13 months!

"Please don't make me sit in the chair!"

"OK, I'll sit in my own chair!"

And on this farm, there was an . . .

. . . Augustus! After much too much time, we made a family trip out to the Blackfoot ranch. We zipped through the two and half hour drive after school on Friday. Augie loved visiting the horses and wrestling with his cousins. Unfortunately, he got sick and felt a little under the weather for the last day, but overall this little cowboy loved the open range!
