Week 16

Mr. Munz = my blogging inspiration (and cupcake fairy!)

The Yesty Family = my baby inspiration

Jacob = a father-figure inspiration

I popped!

16th week
We'll be using American Sign Language as I run out of fingers.

"It's a good time to be a baby."

One of my (many) Droid pregnancy apps describes this time as a "good time to be a baby." There's plenty of room to move around and apparently the blueberry is doing all kinds of wiggling and dancing in there. I certainly haven't felt any of that yet, but sometime in the next couple of weeks, I will! And, I've definitely "popped" giving that blueberry plenty of space for Jazzercise. Although the blueberry's eyes are closed, s/he is practicing moving those eyes around and the big news of this week is the the baby can hear! Well, s/he can hear my voice, my singing (eek!) and loud or startling noises. The little one is actually not so little this week between 3-5 ounces and 4-5 inches long or about the length of my hand! The baby does not have any fat yet (despite my best efforts!) but is well on it's way to becoming a true individual with personalized fingerprints in the works. With all this action going on, I've had Psalm 139 bouncing around in my head all week:

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Week 15

Prepping for Girls' Night!
Jacob and helitack crew members toasting the blueberry with shots of Jack Daniels.

After calling Jacob in to see what I saw on the scale!

Filling In, Filling Out

Filling In
We have enjoyed spreading the news of our joy with our local friends and coworkers. Kjera was introduced by a coworker with her "something unique from the summer" fact being that she attending a wedding in Napa and didn't drink because she's preggers! But she did provide the margaritas (and Guatemalan limonada) for her Girl's Night gals to toast the news. Jacob made a pre-briefing general announcement that "Kjera is knocked up!" A last minute decision to drive over to the Steffler Get-Together treated us to delicious food and many happy hugs.

Filling Out
So, I can no longer say that I haven't gained any weight during my pregnancy. In the last week and a half I've put on 4 pounds! Now that may have something to do with the road trip food (although listening to Fast Food Nation book-on-tape deterred a lot of my usual stops), Hillary's scrumptious wedding festivities and an impromptu stop at Trader Joe's! Or maybe it's the fact that the blueberry is actually the size of an avocado this week, although Jacob prefers to think of if it as a mango (cause it's bigger!).

Question of the week:
Do you think our dear pets (Bear and Rio) know about the blueberry?

Week 14

Beginning of the week breakfast. Is it wrong to eat blueberries?
End of the week breakfast. It's all about balance . . . right?
Feeling bigger! (And wondering how I'll look in the dress I've picked for Hillary's wedding.)

14th week

When Life Gives You Lemons . . .

This week the Blueberry is the size of a lemon! The little lemon has had a variety of food experiences this week while Jacob's been off fighting fires. From a baked potato dinner to many servings of farmer's market multigrain toast with Mark N.'s strawberry jam. Then in an attempt to work in some protein, I grilled up some elk tenderloin steaks (which is no small feat for me if you know of my distaste for animal blood). They were delicious with garlic toast, as a horseradish sandwich and finally in a cold whole wheat pasta salad with fresh veggies. Now this is not to say that there wasn't an emergency trip to Dairy Queen and late night "ski doughnut" cravings (thanks to Tesha!), but this week healthy eating prevailed. In the spirit of good choices, I forced Jacob to watch a little "Pregnancy for Dummies" between episodes of "Royal Pains" and "Burn Notice" last night. Thank goodness for the bribe of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia FroYo to keep him engaged! Well, since I haven't gained any weight (although some has shifted around) yet this pregnancy, I'm off to have a doughnut before lunch with the Henrie Clan!
